The Gospel Centered Church

Acts 9:20-31

Pastor Duke Crawford                                        February 10, 2008

Introduction:

To Be A Spirit Filled, Gospel Centered Church…

 1.  We must continue to preach Jesus Christ as the Son of God.(vs. 20-22)

He preached two things: Jesus is the son of God & Jesus is the Christ

First of all, this is to say that Jesus Christ is God.

Second, it is to say that God the father and God the Son share a unique love relationship.

2.  We must use wisdom and work as we trust God to advance the gospel. (vs. 23-25)

Acts 9:15 – “God for he is my chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, Kings, and children of Israel.”

Proverbs 21:30 – “There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD.”

God uses the “free will” of man to  accomplish His sovereign plan.We should think of it like this: “Since God’s plan cannot be stopped, let’s do everything we can to perceive and execute our plan to advance the gospel.”

3.  We must receive, encourage, and support God’s servants. (vs. 26-31)

Barnabas – “Son of encouragement”

Acts 10:15 – “What God has cleansed you must not call common.”

Application:

Jesus changes everything!
