Built on the Gospel:
CBC looks quite a bit different than it did when it began nearly sixty years ago as a small Bible study meeting in someone’s home in Mt. Pleasant. Though we have grown from a handful of people coming together to study Scripture to a vibrant, healthy, and thriving church, our message has remained the same – glorifying God through the faithful proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and discipiling His people to grow in Him.
We are a church that takes the truth of Scripture very seriously. Each and every program, class, worship service, outreach event, program, small group, and counseling session is centered on the sufficiency of Scripture. We would be considered a medium to larger size church that still maintains a smaller church feel to it. There are many opportunities for you to get connected in the life of our church through our Adult Bible Fellowships (ABF), Youth TEAM, Calvary Kids, Ironmen Men’s Ministry, GIFT Ladies’ Bible Study, and our multi-faceted music ministry.
Our music is a blend of traditional hymns, contemporary choruses, and hymns written by various artists such as Keith and Kristen Getty, Stuart Townsend, Bob Kauflin, and others. The focus of our worship is Christ, the gospel, and exalting the Name of our great God. We are very blessed at CBC with a church that is replete with musical talent.
The doctrinal position of CBC concerning “signs” or “apostolic” gifts such as speaking in tongues, gifts of healing, receiving the Holy Spirit as a subsequent blessing after salvation, and other revelatory gifts is that they are no longer necessary during this age due to the fact we now have the sufficient revelation we need from God as contained in Scripture. The apostolic sign gifts ceased and were no longer the norm for the Christians once the apostolic era came to a close.
